Boston Green Academy’s Team traveled to Puerto Rico in April to meet and work with students from an alternative high school, Nuestra Escuela. Their hurricane recovery project was located in a remote, mountainous area of Orocovis, the location of Casa Collores, the school’s retreat center. The area was badly damaged by Hurricane Maria , with enormous limbs of Ceiba trees having blocked access to the entire area. The two teams worked for days to completely clear the area, and in the process built a strong sense of trust and friendship with one another.
