Briana Bartholomew is graduating from Another Course to College this spring, headed off to University of Massachusetts Amherst in the fall with two Quest trips under her belt. Last year she went to Rockaway, New York to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy devastated neighborhoods along the coast. They worked like dogs but in the end felt more than rewarded when they saw the fruits of their labor. Briana was so inspired that she was among the first to sign up for ACC’s team for the 2014-2015 school year. Alongside new friends and supportive teachers, she was a powerhouse fundraiser for her team. This year, Briana and her teammates volunteered at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Throughout the week they built a wheelchair ramp, outhouses and installed trailer skirting alongside other volunteers and Lakota Sioux families. She came back more inspired and motivated to do community service than ever!
Looking back, Briana has learned so much about herself and what she is capable of from her two Quest trips! She’s moving forward to bigger and better things with an open mind and an understanding that “You shouldn’t sweat the small stuff.”
We are honored to have had Briana on our Alumni Board for the past year. She has been an amazing high school representative and has offered a unique and necessary voice to every discussion.
