During this spring 2026, Quest Adventures is proud to sponsor service trips for 4 outstanding school teams who are working on community- generated projects in The Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Morocco. Each team of students and teachers will have the opportunity to get to know and work side-by-side with local residents as they complete projects that will make an important difference in the lives of the local children and adults as well as their own team of students and teachers.
Boston Arts Academy
Team Dominican Republic-2025
This 2025 February community service trip was centered around collaborating with the La Casa Azul organization and the local elementary and high school in the small community of Arroyo Blanco. Together the Boston Arts Academy team created artistic workshops, murals, and completed other beautification projects that reflected environmental sustainability and self-empowerment. For the elementary school, these included renovating the school playground and equipment, teaching ESL lessons, and creating movement-based exercises that encouraged self- expression and play. In addition, the team organized basketball and volleyball games that emphasized teamwork as well as led arts and crafts projects, such as making loom bracelets. For the high school, the team created a large mural that emphasized shared values and ideas between the Boston and Arroyo Blanco schools. They also initiated a recycling campaign, using art to communicate the importance of this practice in a way that was engaging and accessible.
BINcA (Boston International Newcomers Academy)
Team Puerto Rico-2025
The April 2025 team collaborated with Ciudad Museo, a nonprofit that transforms public spaces through muralism on the west coast of the island. Our team assisted in the renovation of the much neglected Mirador (lookout building) in the town of Anasco. Our team cleaned and repainted the building with beautiful giant flowers as well as repaired the surrounding benches, attracting many local residents to this central area once again, both for the spectacular view of the ocean and for a deeper appreciation of contributions of the historical figures painted on the building.
In addition, Team PR worked with another nonprofit, Aji Corps in San German, helping them to pack up, move, and set up in a new theater space where they manage and produce artistic and cultural events that benefit the community.
Brighton High School
Team Puerto Rico-2025
In May, Team PR from Brighton High worked with the nonprofit, Techos Pa’ Mi Gente”, a San Juan organization that continues to replace damaged roofs and renovate houses, resulting from Hurricanes Maria and Irma and numerous tropical storms. Our students learned how to use all the building equipment, including electric saws and drills, in order to repair the plywood roof and install new windows for a local resident named Carlos. They especially enjoyed getting to know Carlos and hear his compelling life story. On another project, they worked hard to prepare the Techos Compound for a large community event, held by the nonprofit. In three days, the students cleared the grounds from many dead plants, heavy debris and downed trees, mowed around the buildings, planted beautiful flowers, and repainted tables and benches around the properties. Their work was appreciated by the 300 guests who attended the event and learned about the resources available through Techos.
